Lovedale Wedding Chapel and Reception Centre is the perfect all-in-one Hunter Valley wedding venue. It’s got a gorgeous on-site chapel – think classic, white country chapel with handcrafted pews! Plus, there’s cottage accommodation for you and your nearest and dearest. The best bit is that the reception space is a blank canvas so you can style your day your way … but … you don’t have to do it all because Eden Catering has recently come on board as the exclusive caterer. This means you can have a totally bespoke wedding without the hassle of arranging all the food! (Did we mention it’s a BYO venue – this is SUPER hard to find and will save you a lot of $$$’s).
We chatted with one of Eden Catering’s owners, Ailish, to discover more about the food options available at a Lovedale Chapel reception. With a focus on personal, professional and customer-focused service and fresh, local produce from the Hunter region you know your food will be delicious!! We love this review from their Facebook page (they are 5-star rated btw!):
“We can not thank you enough for the amazing food and service at Phoebe & Shannon’s wedding on the 28th of September at the Lovedale Chapel & Reception Centre. The food was absolutely divine and the service was exceptional, friendly and amazing.
Your fantastic work made a very special day even more fabulous.
Sonja and Barry (Phoebe’s dad).”*
Tell us a bit about Eden Catering; when did you start your business & what gave you the inspiration?
Eden Catering was established in 2011, we wanted to create a catering service that was service focused. More about the customer than the business. Myself and Matthew (Executive Chef extraordinaire) own and operate Eden Catering and we bring years of hospitality and event experience backed by a professional team.
Which three words best describe Eden Catering?
What’s your style of cuisine & who’s the chef behind the scenes?
Our Executive Chef Matthew Parsons focuses on using fresh, local produce to create regional Hunter Valley cuisine. Our focus is simple unique food….professional service….sophisticated style.
What do you love about most about Lovedale Wedding Chapel & Reception Centre?
We love the view! We love that brides can DIY but they still have someone to do all the hard work for them by setting up the venue.
Lovedale offers inclusive packages but allows BYO alcohol (which can save you so much!) and Ashley and her team can recommend some excellent decorators.
What style of wedding is best suited to a Lovedale Wedding Chapel reception?
Seated menu wedding receptions work really well. Start with canapés or a grazing table on the deck watching the sun set followed by an amazing platter menu, shared family style at each table, or choose an elegant 2-course meal instead. The reception space can seat up to 120 guests.
What food service styles do you provide at a Lovedale Chapel reception?
We offer several different styles from table share, 2 and 3 course sit-down menus to cocktail. All of our seated menus include pre-reception canapés.
All couples are offered a complimentary menu tasting!
What are the most popular styles of wedding catering at the moment – is alternate drop still number one?
Feasting style menus are definitely in fashion at the moment and guests love them! Laid out in front of your guests is an abundance of food and they get to choose what they would like and how much.
Make us drool…what are some of your most popular wedding dishes?
New on the menu at Lovedale is our handmade potato gnocchi with truffled pumpkin purée and a sage and lemon butter sauce (veg) which we know will be on the top of everyone’s choices!
What lovely little extras can couples opt for?
Dessert bar – a specially designed self-service dessert bar with a selection of handmade desserts and pastries for you and your guests to enjoy with tea and coffee.
Grazing Table – A decadent table overflowing with food for you and your guests to enjoy with an abundance of figs, grapes, cheese wheels, rustic loaves of sourdough, cured meats and seasonal fruit and vegetables.
When a couple’s choosing a venue with external catering, what are the most important features the venue needs to have & what questions should they ask?
A well set up kitchen and access for the caterers is essential. They should also be sure to ask the caterers what exactly is included in the price per person—so they know of any extras like staff, cutlery and plates they might be charged for.
A recent wedding in September had an amazing set up by Affections Wedding and Event Hire with ceiling drapery and oversized arrangements on the tables. It looked super stylish!
If you think this venue could be THE ONE, email Ashlee to arrange a viewing and check out their package information!
Happy planning xx
